Will You Be My Valentine......?

So yesterday was Valentines Day and I was thinking about Rachel as I would be every day... I was wondering what she was up to today... which I do everyday and I was day dreaming about living with her, marrying her and overall just be a family together which again I seem to do every single day.

But on February 14th we are supposed to think about our loved ones more and treat extra special than we would of done on any other day of the year. I have a problem with that... as I try to treat Rachel the same every time I am with her, I try to treat her as good and to the best of my ability as I can.

But on this day we are meant to buy extra gifts, wine, roses, chocolates, teddy bears and various other gifts which make them feel amazing. But I also have a problem with that... How can this justify true love if you have to buy your significant other presents to show your love, surely your actions should show how much you love them? I would love to think that one valentines day I wouldn't have to get a gift for Rachel... Not because I don't like buying things for her or because I don't like to see her getting excited whilst she opens presents but because I would love to be able to show my love for her by the way I live, my actions and my thoughts for her.

Valentines Day always makes me laugh anyway because it seems to be the one day of the year when you can get away with buying ridiculously cheesy cards and even more cheesy gifts! I never really understood it the day and I thought it was a waste of money but I think I am getting to understand it... its there so we can make our loved ones feel special. But surely we should be aiming to treat the people in our lives that way every single day?

The flower shops were super super busy on this day. I tried to order some flowers for Rachel online and all the shops in the Oregon area were packed, I had a reply saying "we must regrettably decline your order as we are very busy in this period, if you would like to order some flowers for another day then please visit again". My first thought was "Why would I want to order some flowers for a different day?" thats ridiculous... why would the shop not be prepared for a day like this? Why wouldn't they be able to meet my Flowery needs?

But it made me think that I did want to order the flowers on a completely random day just to surprise Rachel, It would be an awesome feeling to know that Rachel could wake up to having a surprise like that and that makes me feel good so its a win win really.

Don't let Valentines Day make you treat your loved ones any different but let it affect your thoughts about how you treat them in the first place.

Have fun :-)
