Oscar Goldman stands in a room and says....
"Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster. "
Now I have never watched "the 6 Million Dollar man" before but I was aware of that quote.
This is why I have included it into this weeks blog....
I was walking through the town center on Tuesday and there were some people standing outside of Burger King as they always seem to do shouting about things like "You will perish in Hell if you do not accept Christ the Saviors love" and other things that seem quite harsh to just shout at passers by but still they were there.
I sat on the bench across from them reading my book and people watching (yes I am that cool) and the man that was condemning people took a step back for a taller man to step forward and share his wisdom with the world.
He basically said that quote (the one above) but said.... "God can rebuild you.... He has the Patience, Grace, Love and Technology. He has the capability to build the world's first REAL man. You can be that man. Better than you were before. Better, Stronger, Faster."
I was fascinated.
So I decided to approach him and ask him a few questions.
The questions that I asked him were as follows...
1- Does anyone ever stop because they have something positive to say about your message?
2- Don't you think that God was the worlds most real man?
3- How long have you been shouting and talking to people on the streets for?
The man was quite taken back to hear that I was a Christian and almost straight away started to almost ignore me. I then asked him the list of questions again and again until he answered.
He said he believed that Jesus died so we could be free. Jesus died so He could be happy and for me to understand that properly that I should come to His church.
From going from an amazing "pitch" about God rebuilding people and their lives to saying that the only way to happiness was through this guys church really bugged me.
I didn't understand how he could have such a free flowing pitch about God loving and building up peoples lives to suddenly have a complete programmed answer such as "you must come to my church to understand".
So I started to think and the first question that came to my mind was "so is there no chance of me experiencing life with Jesus where I am right now?
The rest of that conversation absolutely blew my mind to what He believed happened in his church and what he believed only the 50 people in his church family could really experience.
It frustrated me to the core.
So in all of this I came away thinking that I am really glad that I have experienced the Love of God in my life outside of a church building because I would hate to associate that. Yes church helps because it puts you into a community of people who worship and pray to God but it should never be seen as the only way.
God can rebuild you.... Where ever you are.... whenever you need.... just be ready....
He will spend the time to do it, it will be painful and you may never be the same again but know that He does it because He loves you.
Cheers for reading :)
