Who do you follow?
1st Corinthians 3.
Read it up in your bible to see what yours says.
Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly - mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere human beings?
Who do you follow? I want to say that I follow Jesus straight away and give you the happy Christian answer but there are many people who have affected my life, just maybe not as much as Jesus has. I was having this conversation with Rachel over Skype and we were discussing this subject. I think that having role models in your lives are a good thing. But it becomes dangerous when their pillar becomes a bigger impact in your life than Jesus's.
What are your role models? How much are you building up your pillars for them to stand on?
I want to be able to say that Jesus is my main center but in ways in my life that isn't always the case. I long for him to take the main stage of my heart and mind but I sometimes book him as the support act so my role model can get the headlights in which Jesus fully deserves!!
I have a role model in which I look up to a lot in my life. He is an awesome guy, a family man, a father figure in which I want to base myself on but he is still only human. He has flaws. He has made mistakes. We have to realize that whatever or whoever we put up there apart from Jesus is not worthy.
How can we put Jesus in the center when we have so many things distracting our heart?
Who are we to stand in the way of Jesus getting to the center?
And what things do we have to change to allow this?
