But if you know me well enough, you will know that I suck at spelling and the only real reason that these blogs are (almost all) spelt correctly is only because of the spell check function.
But it got me thinking about how we communicate with each other...
I don't really understand or know many words after my very basic vocabulary...
Which got me to think about how everyone else thinks...
How do I come across when I am trying to talk to people...
How much do they understand when I am talking....?
Why use all these long words when you can make it so much easier to understand?
.......
How do I show Jesus through the words I use?
How do I talk about Jesus?
Am I giving Him enough of the glory by using the basic words that I do?
My thoughts have always been that if I am going to be talking about Jesus then I will talk about Him in my comfort and in the way that I know Him.
It did challenge me about my approach in the way I talk about Him.
.......
Should I be trying to use all these words that I have heard all those book smart people use when I can barely understand them?
Or should I try to show Jesus the way that I do know... The way that I am use to or the way that I can actually understand....?
My questions aren't just about the words used.... but its about the heart behind them.
Why do we use these technical words when there are simpler ones out there?
..........
Now I get that some times that we can only use these words because they are the only ones that can literally be used...
But do we do so we look good? Do we do it so that we can be the first in our church to describe Him in that way? Do we do it because we want people to know that we know what that word means?
Either way I want to challenge just as I have been challenged in our ways of talking about Jesus, whatever way we do it, we need to be doing it for His glory NOT our own.
We need to be open to change.
We need to be ready to expand our understandings of Him.
We need to be ready to embrace, challenge and overall look to Jesus through all teaching.
